About AMOYA

The House is a standalone building with a garden and small pond. It is in a quiet green spot away from the main road. It is surrounded on three sides by fields. There are hills within walking distance that are frequently climbed by tourists and medical students. “TOAD HILL” is the closest. The view of sunrise and sunset from upper storey of the house is beautiful. Children can safely play in the area around the house as there is hardly any traffic. The location is ideal for early morning walk. The room faces east west bringing in lots of sunlight and breeze.

About myself: 

My name is Susheela George. My late husband was an Ophthalmologist. After he passed away, I adopted Vellore as my home as both my children were studying in CMC, Vellore. My husband worked in Nigeria for 5 years. During this time we had the chance to tour Europe many times. As a family we have toured Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong. I love cooking and will be happy to provide you with good homemade food. Amoya is my dream house. It is a simple and spacious house and I hope you will have an enjoyable stay.

Welcome to “Nakkas”

“Nakkas” is a Tamilnadu state government approved home for the Bed & Breakfast services in the city of Vellore. This home underwent a due process of application to the government, police investigation and home inspection by the tourism department before it was granted approval. We are privileged that our house has been chosen to showcase our rich culture to the guests we serve.

About us:

We both have graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy (also known as Physical Therapy) from the Christian Medical College (CMC) in Vellore. Our destiny took us to work in the US for 14 years and then we felt the calling to serve our fellow brethren in India so we have relocated to India in 2006. Now we operate a small orphanage in Vellore mostly caring for girls. We have two daughters. We are very familiar with the Indian and western cultures along with their food habits. We both are proficient (read, write and speak) in three different Indian languages namely Hindi, Tamil and Telug apart from English.

After our relocation, we built a house for ourselves in 2007 in Gandhinagar, Vellore. It is an independent house with a compound wall all around the house. Gandhinagar is one of the modern neighborhoods in town located in the central part of the city. My house is accessible to banks, post office, police station, bus stop, eateries, and shopping areas by foot. We love our home and our neighborhood and we are determined to make your stay a memorable one too.

• Spacious non-AC room with a queen size bed (US size) in a beautiful cot with head and foot boards. It has an attached bath and toilet. Room also is fitted with shuttered shelves and a long mirror in a separate room (attached to your bed room) where you can keep your luggage.

• We subscribe to two Indian national newspapers namely “The Hindu” and “Economic Times”. You’re more than welcome to read them in the living room.

Vellore Bed & Breakfast homes

Last year sometime time in June/ July, there was an ad in the Hindu newspaper asking for prospective families that prefer to join in the Bed & Breakfast industry to come by to the collector’s office for a meeting. Quite a number of people had joined in the meeting and after about nine months, the government of Tamilnadu has announced the list.

Five homes (that are listed on th Tamilnadu Government's tourism site) went through the due process of application, police investigation and house inspection by the tourism department.
